RAPID International USA – Update on Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders (ZOPD) – Houston, Texas
By David Bernardini - March 10, 2015
ZOPD had a unique set of requirements to meet when selecting a High Tech Continuous Mixing Plant. The plant(s) had to be very easy to move, site to site, during the duration of the project. After a move the plant had to be set up and re-calibrated in 3 - 6 hours. Maintenance expense had to be kept to a minimum and down time also had to be kept to a minimum. The plants had to be rugged enough to mix local materials in order to produce high quality Cement Treated Base (CTB). The output of each plant was designed to produce a maximum of 400 Tons/Hour of CTB and meet the engineering guidelines as far as mix design. Rapid International USA was chosen as the supplier when it came to selecting a Self-Contained Mobile Continuous Mixing Plant that consistently produced quality CTB to specification. ZOPD purchased 3 Rapid 400CW systems in order to keep production of CTB at a level to meet their schedules. Three systems are in service and are expected to produce approximately 1M Tons of CTB at the end of the project. The first system was installed and readied for production in January 2013 and the other two systems were installed and in production shortly after. This particular segment of the parkway project is expected to be completed in October of 2015. All 3 plants are running 6 days a week and 8 hours per day weather permitting.
